Laurie became interested in Yoga about 10 years ago after a knee injury and two knee surgeries, leaving her unable to maintain her running routine. Despite surgery and much physical therapy, she was unable to run or kneel on her right knee. Yoga has allowed her to lengthen her leg muscles and strengthen her knee making running and kneeling possible again. As an avid reader, Laurie was also influenced to try Yoga by authors such as Steven Cope, author of 'The Wisdom of Yoga' and Deepak Chopra, MD, author of Perfect Health, 'The Complete Mind Body Guide'.
Alicia studied Nursing at Tennessee Technological University and earned her BSN in May 2005. She has always had a passion for health and nutrition. She helps individuals with learning about proper nutrition and healing through food. When she herself became ill with Adrenal Fatigue in the fall of 2012, it was her Yoga practice that helped to heal her. This healing has deepened her desire to not only practice Yoga on a personal level, but also to teach Yoga. Her desire is to help others find healing within their own body through meditation and a consistent Yoga practice.
As a long time yoga practitoner Japa found her kundalini yoga teacher in 2015 when she was working in production on Wanderlust Yoga Festival. Her first experience cracked her open and Japa realized there was something that she was deeply craving in her practice. Japa trained at Rama Institute For Applied Yogic Science and Technology in Los Angeles. Over the years as a yoga teacher, Japa would go on tour with bands and teach yoga on the road. She realized the impact yoga makes and how every single person on the planet needs it to support their overall well being. It was then she chose to dedicate her life to being of service through this practice and helping others understand the teachings and practice of kundalini yoga.
Courtney began her yoga journey in her earlier life and returned to it just a few years ago. Her first class she knew in her heart she had found a home in YOD! She had tried multiple other ways of working out and living a healthier lifestyle and nothing was sticking. Courtney quickly began attending multiple classes every week and thirsting for more. She began researching and reading about the practice of the 8 Limbs, the Chakras and how Yoga works for everyone willing to give it the attention that is needed and deserved in order to live the best life possible. Courtney is eager to continue to practice, learn, teach and spread the word of how this experience can be life changing if you spend the time on yourself!
